Hmm, I never knew this. I came across someone mentioning that Blizzard had 'merged' with Activision some time ago. So I went looking for some news on it and found it.

The previous article that mentioned it was also saying that this is why we might be seeing some changes, because shares in Blizzard-Activision went public, so pleasing the shareholders is going to be pretty upfront in the minds of the execs of the company. Hence charging 3X for SC2, and also speculation about charging for Bnet... (though it was definitely only speculation). But still...
