So, I was watching Boston Legal last night, and they were addressing a topic that I've had previously found interesting (that show's good at that). And here it is, students are taking things like Ritalin, Provigil, propanolol, amphetamines, etc. to improve their concentration and study performance. Is this 'brain doping' the same as regular 'athletic doping' or whatever it's called? Is it 'immoral', or is it barely distinguishable from taking the other drugs we already consume in large doses ...

I know this broadcasts my naivety + ignorance far and wide but I didn’t actually believe the law didn’t recognise the marriage of a homosexual couple. I mean, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it said before but I guess my brain just didn’t accept it since this really took me by surprise.

What the hell is the matter with this country?! I cannot believe that this piece of legislation does make up part of this ...

Here’s the first attempted debate. I suggest we try get a more formal debate going? (Why not?) So, I'll try lay out some rough guides for all of us who want to be involved:

1. Let's try to think reasonably long and hard about the issues and questions, which means avoiding posting when i) you get a short break from work, ii) you have 5 mins before going to bed and you're hella sleepy, iii) you've got a couple of minutes before going to work and you've just read someone's response and you ...

Sorry, I got carried away; I probably shouldn’t make of light of it like that, it’s just that it has been in the news so I feel it our duty to open up the floor of the Gentlemen’s Club and discuss!

Initially they're saying that this tanning pill will be used (pending approval) only by people who've had organ transplants (because apparently they're at most risk of skin cancer) but it seems that eventually it will become available to the general public (I think the article implied 2010).

Hi everyone.

For the first time in a long time i am posing a question to the forum. I have been reading this recently in the lead up to my return to university. The reason i send you here is that there is a free edition on the site from september 2008 that you can d/l in pdf the title question of which is 'what is law'. One of the articles is law vs justice, but he also toys very very briefly with morality vs justice. He basically says about half way through that justice and morality are ...

Hey guys.

I was really bored at work and i started thinking about something that has bugged me ever since year ten. Limits.

Just in case people don't know what i am on about:

Limits in mathematics is the process by which the 'space' between one set of numbers and another set of numbers is so infinitely small that it is in fact, for all intents and purposes, 0.

The perfect example is 9/9. 9/9 = 1, but it also equals 0.99999999999999999999999999 repeated infinitely. However, ...

Heya guys,

Here's another little nugget of discussion you might wanna sink your teeth into.

This one comes from the same argument, yet another point that i don't necessarily agree with and would like to see your thoughts.

The author states that he does not agree with a presumption of the historically famous social text Leviathon by Thomas Hobbes. Instead he takes the aristotelean view one step further, denouncing what hobbes called 'the state of nature' (stick with me i will ...
