Wasn't it "Is this bus campaign a good idea?"

And i said yes- the interest it generates is fantastic- but i do find the message a little offensive (though the "probably" makes it seem like they're trying to accommodate multiple views...)

Yeah, i guess that was probably the original question. I was more talking about our recent debate, but whatever...

I don't know if they were 'trying to accommodate multiple views,' rather than just putting it as they see it.

Because Atheists believe that at the moment they can only disprove God by 99.99% they can't (or shouldn't) say that God doesn't exist, only that he 'probably' doesn't exist.

Also, how could that offend you. I have read and have been told many times that there definitely is a God and I don't get offended by that even though I don't agree with what they have just said.

I was thinking the same thing, Nick. I don't know how it could really be offensive... but I guess if you find it offensive you find it offensive...?

I live my life devoted to the God of the universe. Why do i find someone telling me that He doesn't exist offensive? Try to think from my point of view...

Yes, okay, I can see it from your perspective, and can see how someone would get offended (people can get offended for all sorts of reasons). I think Nick’s point, though, is that you still don’t need to get offended... I mean, as Nick said, he doesn’t believe there are gods, yet he doesn’t get offended at an advertisement saying “there definitely is a God,” which, by the way, is a much more (potentially) offensive statement.

And not to mention the whole, “it’s my belief so you can’t say anything critical about it.” If the beliefs themselves ask for it, then we expect them to be called out for it. It happens in every other aspect of our social lives.

(Sorry for the size, but I'm too tired...)

Here's some translations for the new German bus campaign.
Article wrote:There are (almost certainly be) NO GOD.
... ... A fulfilling life does not need any faith.
... ... Values are human - to us is what counts.
... ... Enlightenment means to take responsibility.

The three different texts will be on the three sides of the same bus are placed (left, right and rear).

Man the Germans are awesome.

It's also starting up in Finland.

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/religion_theseeker/2009/05/atheist-bus-campaign.html

Article wrote:"In the Beginning, Man Created God."

This provocative twist on the Bible’s opening line was plastered on the side of 25 Chicago buses this week as part of an advertising crusade by the Indiana Atheist Bus Campaign.

Interesting...

I think people who get offended are weird.

Of course they probably think I'm weird for not being offended by anything.

Yes, you're definitely weird Trevor. But not because of that. Because I do wish I had your special power of not-getting-offendedness, but my crotchetiness just takes over....
