Gold Coast medical school is running low on cadavers. What's your opinion (if you have one) on the donation of organs? And would you donate your body/organs for medical research, as opposed to directly to another individual i.e. the regular donation on driver's license (I think that's what it is)?

To a degree, I have no problem with what happens to my body after I die.

I don't mind as long as the research is for something worthwhile, not like a wrinkle cream or some stupid shit like that.

I wonder if they do test wrinkle creams on cadavers...

Do you reckon that would work for cosmetic commercials? BEFORE and AFTER shot of two corpses: "Fight six out of seven signs of aging... all of them expect death." I would like that ad.

In terms of donating, do people think that we should have the 'opt in' or 'opt out' method? I think we have 'opt in' at the moment (maybe?).

Definitely opt-out. Then the crazies that fear doctors will kill them to harvest their organs for a wealthier / more powerful patients can not participate while not having to go to the effort of opting-in means there will be dramatically more doners.

Agreed. What happened with our system? A while ago I was hearing that they were talking about changing it to 'opt-out'... did they ever do that?

Nope- it's seemingly better from a legal standpoint (i'm too lazy to look up an article for this one)- basically because a "majority" ( i.e. the most vocal group) see organ donation as immoral or irreligious the system must stand by their view point. But 6 billion crazies can't be wrong?

Lousy 'majority rule.' Why can't it be 'rational rule'? Put that on the list, Trev.

I never used to give a crap about what happened to my body after I died, until I saw this shit: Real human bodies used in 'art'

Call me whatever you like, this shit disgusts me.

Yeah I will go with that too. I thought it was kinda disgusting when i saw it. If it was real human bodies that were used like that but put in Museums and the person constented before dying to that specificall and they were put in tasteful displays (not playing poker in other words) it wouldn't be as bad.
