Hey, those dolphins are looking like invading and taking over the land any time now. This latest observed behaviour, while not certain whether it is passed on from adult to offspring, is similar to another behaviour observed in dolphins a while back (also mentioned in this article), which was seen to be passed on through generations i.e. cultural.

Article wrote:Scientists have discovered the marine mammals can perform a series of sophisticated manoeuvres that rid a cuttlefish of its ink and bone to produce a tasty soft meal.

Article wrote:Female bottlenose dolphins have also been seen using sponges as tools in Western Australia, to protect their snouts as they probe the sea floor for food.

In the first evidence of cultural learning among dolphins, a study in 2005 showed that mothers teach their daughters the trick of breaking off the sponges and wearing them.

Add the ol’ dolphins on to the list of animals that have met (the rather strict) prerequisites for culture.
Humans, Chimps, probably Gorillas and Orangutans, and Dolphins.

I can never see this done because it will ruin the glorious ninja like scene that I have in my head.
