Diablo 3 topic.
Well, there was a SC2 topic, so I thought, why not?
I was just perusing online a minute ago and saw all the talk about whether or not D3 would be an MMO. Any opinions on how it should be?

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
I thought that Diablo 3 didn't actually exist and might never exist because all the Blizzard North people left and made Hellgate London (which apparently sucks).
I kinda hope it isn't an MMO. I'll be less likely to play it if it is; especially if it's all gay and cheesy looking like WoW.
Also, the notion of subscribing to a game really mashes my pataters, but that's mostly my problem, I think..

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Oh it doesn't exist, at least as far as people know, and it may never. But that doesn't stop Super Diablo Friends speculating on every little tiny detail and exaggerating any slight reference to (or even just no explicit denial of) the Diablo series made by someone who might be vaguely associated with Blizzard. Hence the thread!
The idea of subscribing was one of the main reasons people mentioned not wanting it to be MMO, and I guess I feel the same way, though this other guy went to a whole heap of effort to try and rationalise it by calculating something like $/hour, and how it comes out being a lot cheaper than going to the movies...riight. Convinced anyone? I didn't think so. But it was kinda a good point...

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Sitting around trading set items with some jerk from Canada isn't as GOOD as seeing a good movie.
Probably better than most movies, though.

BAZIIING! Mutha F'ers.
If nothing else, the blizzard team is good at keeping things under their hats. (Though they obviously are good at many other things. Especially gaming things.)

Male/Female versions for each class? That sounds pretty cool.

Yes, good, finally. Will that actually affect the classes or just cosmetic?

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Yeah, I'm not sure. Hopefully they will have varied stats.
They also seemed to have put a lot of effort into making wearable items change the look of the character. Which is way cool.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
That would be nasty. I don't think she does, though of course she does carry a little more meat on her body than would perhaps be seen on most non-barbarian women, as would be expected. In the gameplay video they show the model... as the barbarian is one of the two characters that they've shown to the public; the barbarian is old-looking, which I'm not that impressed by.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
I dunno, I can dig it. I don't think it should be the barbarian, maybe, but an old character in general would be cool. Imagine if you could set the age!

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Yeah, I don't mind too much if he's an older geezer, depending on how they do it. He still sounds like the walking Fong-House that he was in D2.
Setting the age would be sweeeet. I wish.
Also, to address another feature, in the gameplay video they show off their new environment interactivity by showing this barbarian smash down some wall supports causing the wall to come crashing down upon these zombie dudes killing them. What you reckon of that?

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Environment interaction is awesome. I am pleased.
Hey yeah, set the age, changes the appearance and maybe he's not as strong but he's more experienced somehow.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
That age thing would be a cool feature.
The 3D was interesting though there inevitably seems to be a loss of detail, which is unfortunate. I was super impressed by the flow of the fighting though, it was freaken awesome; and the ragdoll physics, apparently they're using the havoc physics system. I don't remember what that means but it made it look really cool.

Just for those who haven't seen them and may have wanted to.
Gameplay Part 1
Gameplay Part 2
Probably better quality from the actual blizzard site.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Just watched part 1. The combat looks freaking sweet, and the barbarian's skills look way more fluid and useful than in D2.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
The barbarians' skillZ do look great (and damn effective), and it seems that they've given him/her more actual 'active' spell-like attacks rather than "strong hit, upgradeable to stronger hit" and passive skills e.g. masteries. Though, I really liked how the barbarian wasn't really about the 'spells'. So I hope they haven't changed him (/her) too much.
Yeah, that monster totally eated his head off! I have to admit that I thought that was hella cool. What do you think of the fact that it was like 5 stories high though? Sometimes I think that kinda destroys the fantasy...

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Yeah. And you're slashing away with your axe at its ankles while it unleashes this massive volley of hand-claw in your face, each claw bigger than your character is, and you think "something doesn't feel right" — sure it's a game; I get it — but you still can't help think that.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Yeah, I'm curious to know why he'd even bother fighting the 'heroes'. They seem to be kinda like flies/mosquitoes, and he could probably happily go about his evil deeds without bothering to outright kill them but just slap the odd one or to away every now and then. Maybe he was just cranky.

Re: Diablo 3 topic.
Those trees had it coming. They got all up and try to kills them. (Sorry for the pointless ungrammaticality, but it always seems funny, and I absolutely loved to see it make its way into the diablo clip! Where the hireling dude that you get to follow you comments on some wall explosion, or something, in his Prince of Arabia accent with something like "Oh my god, what the hells is that?!" Ha! Classic.)
