Gotta nuke somethin'.
How's about Nook-yula Power. People usually got something to say about that. I hear it didn't get much of a mention in the new budget. Good news? Bad News? You decide...

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
Australians are scared of the n-word justlike they're scared of recycled water. If we had been using it from the begining (when was nuclear power invented Andy? Get to work on that) then it wouldn't be an issue and we wouldn't be one of the worst countries in the world in regards to CO2 per capita.
I'm not saying that nuclear power is good but if you compare the pollution outputs of a nuclear plant to a coal plant you see how freakin bad coal is.
As for the budget.... I was willing to give Labour a chance but after a few months of them I'm off Labour for life.

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
Go ahead...throw your vote away!
Seriously though, I think that nuclear power is the best we have at the moment, until such time as solar and wind are efficient enough to...you know, work.

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
I'm a hydro man myself.
Solar will be great if they ever make it effiecent (i know thats spelt wrong, blow me).
That skyscraper in Dubai with the 3 wind turbines is sweet. People complain that those windmill thingies are ugly (not those ones, just in general) but most buildings are eyesores anyway so lets just chuck turbines on all of them (the ugly ones, not the sweet Art Deco ones).

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
I heard this guy on some show who was supporting nuclear say something like "yeah, ideally we would have everything running on solar. But that's just not a possibility at the moment and we need to do something so..." just like you've both pointed out.
Solar, wind, hyrdo, geothermal (sounds like Captain Planet back in action) are all cool, but the king of all energy production has to be MuthaF'n Fusion. Aww yeah, the day we get that puppy up and running is the day when God himself will be forced to bow down to the human race as supreme overlords of the Universe, well, at least on a short path to becoming...

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
I have no idea. I didn't really like Sim City either. I do like simulation games like A-Train, Transport Tycoon, Theme Hospital, Rollercoaster Tycoon etc etc but Sim City didn't do it for me. I did like to load a city and then unleash disasters on them though. Mwah-ha-ha-ha! Die sim-people! Yeah, I have issues.

Re: Gotta nuke somethin'.
Yeah, the problem was that you couldn't actually see the people. All you got was these siren sounds, maybe some screaming and fires and stuff, but there was no intimacy. But in games like RollerCoaster tycoon you actually got to see all the individual people as one of the rollercoasters flew off the edge of your unfinished track... good times.

In Rollercoaster Tycoon you could also pick the peeps up, drop them in water and watch them drown.
