And I just bought Vista... Crap!

So, it sounds like it's pretty kick ass.

They fired them? Way harsh. I didn’t think Vista was that bad.Article wrote:Instead of a triumphant successor to Windows XP, Vista has proved one of the company's biggest and costliest mis-steps.

Microsoft has clearly learned from its mistakes. It retired the executives behind Vista and assigned Windows 7 to Steven Sinofsky, who had previously been in charge of Microsoft's Office suite - a product that under Sinofsky's laser focus had always arrived on time and remained perennially successful.
The appearance was at least good enough to make it to the new one. Which is good because Vista is dead sexy.Article wrote:In fact, what's most surprising is that Windows 7 seems almost identical to Vista at first and even second glance. There's been no major change to the familiar and still appealingly slick user interface.
Windows 7 has the same overall look and feel as Vista and runs the same software and hardware. Microsoft wisely sees this as the time for evolution rather than revolution.
Article wrote:A more practical change to Windows 7 is the enhanced taskbar running along the foot of the screen. Nicknamed the Superbar, this is no longer just a place for switching between programs that are already running. By pinning an icon onto the enhanced taskbar, it can now be used to start your favourite and most-used programs.
Totally awesome.Article wrote:Instead of a My Documents folder, there's now a Personal Documents library, for example, and that library keeps track of every document on your computer. It's a tweak to the virtual folder approach of Vista but is faster and smoother to use. Each personal library has an equivalent public library for sharing documents, photos, music and so forth over a network.

Very cool.Article wrote:The good news - perhaps the best news - is that Windows 7 is faster than Vista.
So, it sounds like it's pretty kick ass.

It seems like this new version of windows is what vista was suposed to be.
Re: And I just bought Vista... Crap!
Totally. The rest of the article seemed to be of that opinion.

Just a bit worried that this is a little more Spin... you know, they way they did with Vista.
On track record though- second attempts seem to be where Microsoft shine!

I could definitely be more spin. But, seeing as how much crap they got from all the last spin they gave... I think they'll be a little more wary.

I gotta say, i am using it and appart from a little problem with the 'sleep' function it is KICK ASS! It really is. Being a beta it has the usual little niggles of some apps not being compatible, but when there are others around that are compatible and just as good it doesn't matter. What i love is the look and the feel of it. It is so easy to navigate and runs so smoothly and it looks so sexy. I love it.

If you want to trial it there is a full beta version to download free from microsoft with its own Key and everything. When it comes out i have a feeling that this will be the first microsoft product i will actually buy.

You're actually using the beta? As your sole operating system? Whoa. Arne't you worried about the crashiness and all?
